India Tourist Visa Requirements

1)     India Visa Application

For the Visa application form: www.indianvisaonline.gov.in   When completed, please print and sign both pages of the application.

2)     U.S. Passport

Provide your valid, signed passport. Your passport should be valid for six months beyond your stay and have two adjacent blank visa pages available for the Consulate to affix a visa.

3)     CKGS Order Form

CKGS is the designated third party visa administrator at the Indian Embassy. PLEASE FILL OUT ONLY PAGE 1 OF THEIR FORM! Leave page 2 blank except your signature and date. CLICK HERE for the form.

4)     Additional Particulars Form

Please fill the form out completely. CLICK HERE for form.

5)     Photographs

Please provide two (2) color, passport sized photos. The photo must be on photo paper, be 2” x 2”, and have a white background. The photo must be taken in the last six months. Applicants, please DO NOT wear glasses in the photographs.

 6)     Proof of Address

Provide a copy of your proof of residence. The address should match the address on your visa application exactly. Acceptable proof of address would be copies of your state issued ID, major utility bill or a copy of your lease signed by both landlord and tenant.

 7)     Travel Itinerary

Provide a copy of your airline ticket or travel agent itinerary.

 India Business Visa Requirements

 5)     Letter of Invitation

Please provide a letter of invitation from the organization or company in India that will be sponsoring your stay. The letter should be on company letterhead and state the nature and duration of your stay. The letter should also state the length of visa applied for: 1, 5 or 10 year, as well as detail the places and organizations to be visited.

 6)     Letter of Introduction

You will need a business letter of introduction from your organization, on company letterhead, addressed to the Embassy of India. The letter should state the purpose of travel and provide the name and contact information at the company you will be visiting in India. The letter should also provide a financial guarantee of all your expenses while in India.

 7)     Proof of Address

Additional Information

 -Passports or replacing documents must be valid on arrival

-Visa is NOT required for those holding a PIO (Person of Indian Origin) card. Please note that a PIO card is NOT the same as an OCI (Overseas Citizen of India} card.

-Multiple entry tourist visa (type “I”) holders, with validity between 3 months and 10 years, are required to wait two months between visits.

-valid visas in expired passports are acceptable as long as they are accompanied by a valid passport of the same nationality.

–Vaccinations-Yellow fever vaccination is required if arriving within six days of departing or transiting through countries with infected or endemic areas. Yellow fever vaccination is required for all passengers arriving from Zambia. If Yellow Fever Certificate is required, those arriving without it may be subject to six day quarantine.

-Exempt from Yellow fever requirements are children under six months and passengers transiting India by the same aircraft.

-Malaria prophylaxis is recommended.
